FOR PRIVATE EQUITY INVESTMENT & OPERATING TEAMS

Find additional revenue in your portfolio’s data.

Years of operations can create assets beyond the balance sheet: software, technical records and detailed work histories. Start with one portfolio company. We help establish what is worth assessing, the work required and buyer fit before a wider programme.

Assess one portfolio company

Start with one company. No GeneralWork fees to the fund or business.

Nominate a company. No logins or raw files needed for the initial enquiry.

ADDITIONAL VALUE FROM EXISTING OPERATIONS

Test the upside.
Keep the business moving.

01

Find assets that sit outside the usual revenue plan.

Operational documents, code, designs and connected work histories can have a second use. We help identify the relevant records and assess them against buyer requirements.

02

Start without gathering years of files.

A short company overview is enough for the initial enquiry. Our proprietary discovery and extraction technology supports the agreed assessment and preparation, with clear input required from management and IT.

03

Make the decision on commercial evidence.

We seek buyer feedback and indications for approved opportunities. Assess the potential proceeds alongside preparation effort, restrictions and delivery terms before committing.

A DECISION EACH TEAM CAN ASSESS

Commercial upside.
Practical delivery.

Use the first company to establish what the opportunity involves. Give each decision-maker the information needed to approve the next stage.

Investment team

Potential buyer fit, proposed commercial terms and open questions.

Operating team

The scope, people and preparation work needed from the business.

IT & legal

Systems, permissions, restricted material and proposed disclosure terms.

A CLEAR FIRST STEP

One company first.
Scale a process that works.

Assess one portfolio company

Free first assessment. No fund-wide access or installation needed to start.

01

Nominate one company.

Introduce its management or IT contact. Start with a business that has retained digital records and someone authorised to assess them.

02

Agree a focused assessment.

Start with the company’s systems, history and potential assets. Agree the inputs, access and handling for any deeper review before it begins.

03

Build the case before expanding.

Agree any extraction and buyer approach in writing. Progress a suitable opportunity, resolve gaps or stop, then use the evidence to assess other companies.

APPROVAL BEFORE ACCESS

Protect the company’s commercial position.

The company agrees the assessment scope and any system access. Extraction, recipients and proposed use require separate written approval. Any licence must account for customer commitments, confidentiality, third-party rights and existing sale or financing terms.

Data & control

OUR FEE COMES FROM THE BUYER

A buyer-paid service.

No GeneralWork retainer, extraction fee or success fee to the fund or portfolio company under our buyer-paid service.

We disclose relevant fees and relationships before an introduction. Any third-party expense requires prior approval. A transaction depends on buyer acceptance, rights and agreed terms.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU START

A clearer decision.

Which portfolio company should we choose first?

Start with a business that has accessible digital records, an established work history and a clear internal owner for the review. Technical, finance, logistics and support workflows can all be relevant; buyer fit is assessed case by case.

Who takes part in the assessment?

We start with a short overview and a company contact. Agree any later input from management, IT and legal before further work. The fund does not need to install software or provide system access.

Does licensing mean selling the company or all of its IP?

No. A licence defines specific rights to specific material. Its scope, duration, permitted uses and any exclusivity must be reviewed as part of the proposed transaction.

Can this become recurring revenue?

Potentially, if the assets, rights and buyer demand support it. A one-off licence does not establish recurring revenue. We assess the terms of each opportunity separately.

Is an estimate an offer?

No. Any estimate is indicative. Buyer acceptance, permitted uses, preparation and delivery terms determine an actual offer.

Who can access the data?

No logins or raw files are needed for the initial enquiry. Before deeper assessment or extraction, agree authorised personnel, systems, records, storage, retention and disclosure terms.

Do we need the browser extension to start?

No. The self-serve extension is awaiting Chrome Web Store approval. An assisted assessment is available now, with the company’s scope and permissions agreed before further work.
